Hillsborough County, Fla. (April 20, 2023) – Hillsborough County Libraries are making it easier for families with limited or no Internet access to get online at home with the Library Laptops for Families program.
This spring, Tampa-Hillsborough Public Libraries is lending out 2,500 Chromebook laptop computers with data plans to families across the county.
The public library system was awarded a grant through the Emergency Connectivity Fund program to offer the Chromebooks. The goal is to provide families with access to school support and job skills information. The computers include an unlimited data plan available until Dec. 31.
Residents who want a laptop should visit HCPLC.org/Chromebook from their phone or visit a local library computer to schedule an appointment and review check-out guidelines.
The computers will be available at five library locations between April 28 and May 20, but residents should make an appointment first.
