Acer’s Nitro range comprises high-performance laptops that won’t break the bank. The company’s Nitro 17, in particular, substantiates our sentiments to a tee. The laptop is backed by AMD’s all-new, Ryzen 7 7735HS platform. The octa-core processor offers 16 threads and a max boost clock of up to 4.75GHz, for those unaware.
Understandably, AMD’s contender is a bit slower than the Core i7-13620H and the Core i7-13700H CPUs, which feature more cores. That’s not to say that the unit can’t hold its own, and you should still be able to get your work done on the machine. Moreover, the HS series of CPUs from AMD boasts superb efficiency. As such, the laptop should also offer you a meaty battery backup.
Moving on, though, the laptop comes with an RTX 4070 GPU with a TGP of 140W. What’s more, the device benefits from a MUX switch as well. In particular, the device is backed by Nvidia’s Advanced Optimus tech, which allows the laptop to switch between the iGPU and the dGPU without rebooting.
The laptop also gets a QHD display that refreshes at 165Hz! Needless to say, Acer has struck the ball out of the ballpark with the Nitro 17. And users agree, too, with most buyers citing that the laptop performs like a champ.

MSI’s Katana 15 is no slouch in the performance department either. For one, the laptop comes with Intel’s Core i7-13620H CPU. The chipset gets 10 cores, including six performance and four efficiency cores. As such, the processor can deploy up to 16 threads for multi-threaded workloads. More notably, the P-cores can turbo up to 4.9GHz, which is excellent.
As for graphics, the laptop ships with an RTX 4070 GPU with a 105W TGP. Although it’s not the beefiest RTX 4070 GPU, the Katana 15 should still be able to play most modern games at competent settings. In fact, per PCMag’s review, the laptop overturned well over 100FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and F1 2021 at the Ultra graphics preset. Rest assured; you should be able to play your favorite games on the laptop seamlessly.
The Katana 15 has a 15.6-inch, Full HD display that refreshes at 144Hz. As such, you can even play high-octane games like Valorant and Apex Legends on the laptop without worrying about screen-tearing. Add to that a bevy of connectors, including a Thunderbolt 4 port and DDR5 memory, and the MSI Katana 15 is right up there with the best RTX 4070 gaming laptops.

GIGABYTE makes terrific gaming notebooks too. Take the company’s AORUS 15, for instance, which is backed by Intel’s Core i7-13700H processor. The CPU ups the E-core count to eight while offering six P-cores as well. Add to that; the P-cores turbo up to 5GHz as well. Needless to say, the processor is more than adept at handling CPU-bound workloads, including but not limited to video editing.
That’s not all; the laptop also comes with an RTX 4070 GPU with a TGP of 140W. As such, you should be able to max out the graphics settings on most AAA games easily. In fact, per IGN’s review, the laptop could run games like Hitman 3 and Forza Horizon 5 at well over 100FPS, with the graphics preset maxed out at 1080p resolution. It could even handle more demanding games like CyberPunk 2077 with ease.
Rest assured, buyers looking to play games and revel in stunning graphics will find plenty to like here. Additionally, the device ships with a QHD display that refreshes at a whopping 165Hz. So, you can make the most of scenic titles or tone down the resolution to leverage better FPS in high-octane games. All said and done, the GIGABYTE AORUS 15 is one heck of a gaming notebook that will keep even the most ardent gamers happy.

ASUS’ ROG lineup has, time and again, impressed buyers and critics with its high-performance notebooks. The company’s Strix G16 is a superb gaming machine too. For one, the laptop features Intel’s Core i9-13980HX processor with 24 cores! That’s right, the processor features eight performance cores, and 16 efficiency cores and can deploy up to 32 threads.
More to the point, the processor’s P-cores can rev up to 5.6GHz as well. Needless to say, the ROG Strix G16 will crunch through the most demanding workloads without breaking a sweat. In fact, per some user reviews, the laptop could crunch through 4K video renders in Premier Pro and 3D designs in AutoDesk Fusion seamlessly.
And there’s more to the story. The laptop comes with an RTX 4070 GPU with a TGP of 140W. Coupled with its speedy DDR5 memory and a MUX switch, the G16 will run even the most demanding games at superb graphics and FPS presets.
Moving on, the ROG Strix G16 ships with a 16-inch, Full HD display. The panel sports a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it ideal for reading articles, PDFs, or even a string of code. The laptop also benefits from a per-key RGB keyboard deck and Thermal Grizzly’s premium Conductonaut, which should further the unit’s performance chops.

Lenovo is bringing its A-game with the Legion Pro 5i gaming laptop. How, you might be wondering? Well, one look at the laptop’s spec sheet will tell you that the Legion Pro 5i means business. For starters, the device is powered by Intel’s Core i9-13900HX processor. The CPU’s core cluster is similar to the 13980HX chipset prefaced above.
However, unlike the P-cores on the 13980HX processor, the 13900HX’s P-cores can only turbo up to 5.4GHz. Although the difference isn’t night and day, buyers looking for the most bang for their buck will find the Strix G16 more to their liking. Moving on, the Legion Pro 5i also comes with an Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU.
The GPU offers a Total Graphics Power of 140W, putting it in the same league as the GPU on ASUS and Acer’s notebooks. Unsurprisingly, buyers can be seen singing praises of the laptop’s performance in their reviews.
Interestingly, the laptop offers a more pixel-dense display than the ROG Strix G16 prefaced above. On that note, the Legion Pro 5i features a 16-inch WQXGA IPS display that refreshes at 165Hz.
You’ll also get a healthy assortment of connectors with the machine, including a handful of Type-A and Type-C connectors, an HDMI port, and an ethernet slot. Suffice it to say, the Legion Pro 5i is a fantastic gaming notebook.
With that, our list of the best gaming laptops with an RTX 4070 GPU comes to an end. Budget-conscious buyers should check out the Nitro 17 from Acer, as it has a QHD display and a 140W RTX 4070 GPU. That said, if you have deep pockets, you should pick up the Strix G16 or the Legion Pro 5i. Do let us know which laptop you opted for in the comments below.
