The newest model of the ultracompact Gram series represents one of the lightest (990 g, ~2.18 lb) and slimmest (≤ 12,55 mm, ~0.49 in) 15.6-inch laptops on the market. It even beats its already slim and light siblings in terms of thickness and weight. The configuration of our test unit is available for about 1,750 Euros (~$1,929). Other configurations are not available at the time of the test.
The Core i7-1360P processor, which is a sprout of the Raptor Lake generation, delivers sufficient performance for Internet and office applications and also allows playing less demanding computer games. It is not designed for constant high load. While short load peaks are countered by powerful computing performance, longer loads require some throttling of the clock speed.
The CPU is accompanied by 16 GB of working memory (LPDDR5 6000, dual-channel mode, onboard). It is not possible to expand the memory. The 1-TB storage space of the fast PCIe 4 SSD should be sufficient for the potential usage scenarios of the Gram. Otherwise, the laptop would also offer a space for a second PCIe 4 SSD.
A battery charge (60 Wh) will realistically allow the laptop to run for 12 to 15 hours, which is a very good battery life. The laptop is charged using a USB-C charger, which can be connected to any of the three USB-C ports. In addition, all of the USB-C ports are also able to output a DisplayPort signal. Their Thunderbolt 4 support also enables other options such as connecting an external GPU or using a docking station.
The latter almost becomes a necessity, since aside from the USB-C ports, the Gram only offers a 3.5 mm audio port. Without a docking solution or corresponding adapter, many external devices such as a monitor could not be connected to the laptop.
